Pacifica, the UK’s leading domestic appliance repair specialists, has received its first batch of electric vans (EVs) as part of its commitment to carbon neutrality. Consisting of five new electric vans, which are the same shape, size, and capacity as its diesel predecessors, the new EVs are being trialled by the business’s field engineers across the North East.

The business has a proud record of sustainable behaviour, illustrated by initiatives such as ensuring its cars are either full EV or hybrid. It also installed solar panels on the roof of its Washington-based warehouse in 2015, which have since generated over 500,000 kWh of electricity. Such measures have guaranteed that its premises operate on 100% renewable energy contributing to it being named the first Carbon Neutral Company in its sector.

Kevin Brown, Chief Executive of Pacifica, said: “The very nature of what we do ensures that Pacifica is a business for good, which is why we strive to reduce the number of domestic machines going to landfill by repairing what we can.

“It is vital to us that we carry out our repairs in an environmentally responsible and sustainable way, which is why we have invested in a new fleet of electric vehicles.

“The range of these new electric vans already exceeds the daily miles that our engineers do, so we will run a trial to ensure the vehicles are fit for purpose and then consider rolling them out across the UK fleet in due course.

“I look forward to receiving feedback from our engineers once they have been out and about to experience the capabilities of the vans.”
